With Vicki's Mama failing rapidly we planned to go north on Feb 6, then I talked with my sister and we were going to leave Tucson on Jan 30, then she called me at work and we left Jan 20! We left the Village at 5:30 AM that day and pulled in to Port Angeles at 12:30 PM that Friday. It was long days driving, but everything went very well; some snow and rain in northern California and southern Oregon.
Mama had two TIAs last Thursday and her speech is affected, the right side is weaker. She has virtually no vitality and gets steadily weaker but still has her sense of humor. My sister Glennie and I are sharing her care 24/7 and we are now registered with Hospice, which makes a big difference to us. As she deteriorates we have to learn new ways to do things.
We have had e-mails from Villagers, which is always a nice surprise, and keep up on the news thru the staff. Mama was delighted with the card signed by so many Villagers. This is the first winter in 19 years we haven't been in Tucson -- and now we remember WHY! It's COLD up here!! They think it's great when it gets up to 47 for the day :o
Take good care of yourselves and have a great time in the sunshine.
HUGS TO EVERYONE -- Mike & Vicki
