George & I returned the 25th of May from a two week trip to Alaska. George was the only one who had been there before. Accompanying us was my brother & his wife, Lee & Lucy, from Marysville, Kansas & our youngest son and his new fiancee, Rob & Regan, (none of us had met Regan)from Poulsbo Washington and our daughter & her Husband, MeLinda & David, from Manteo N Carolina. We all flew into Fairbanks on different airlines at different times. from Fairbanks we had 5 days on land going to Mt McKinley, Denali, and Takeetna. the travel was all by rail except for the excursions and they were by school bus. we discovered that we were the FIRST tour of the new season. This didn't stop the great customer service that we received. I feel it did hinder the scenery. Winter was ending and spring had yet to arrive. Those of you in the mid-west will understand the brown, dirty snow and the lack of spring green. We saw all kinds of wild life except bear. The only bear we saw was when the train went along a river there was a speed boat and one of the passengers in the boat "Beared" his butt. HA! (He mooned us!) we then spent 7 days cruising. George and I and Mel & David were the only two couples who had cruised before. We cruised from Anchorage through the inland passage to Vancouver Canada. We stopped at Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan. We took helicopters to Mead glacier on one excursion. That was a big highlight, what a view of Alaska that is.
I could go on and on but will end with what everyone said at the ship before we all left for our different airline, "Where are we all going next year?"
